Mark Hepburn Comes to Life

Here are some images from the life of Mark Hepburn, Him, His second life alter ego and his dog Steven. We're definitely getting a little too involved.

Design For Website

This is my design for my portfolio website, I wanted muted colours as this would give a calm vintage feel to the site, I also designed every element of the page myself, using photoshop to create all the buttons and taking the photographs myself. I'm really proud of my design and hopefully it will turn out as I want it to.

Fictional Online Identity Assignment

Our next assignment was to create an online identity, using facebook, twitter, second life and any other social networking site, Our person needed to be believable and hopefully not get shutdown. Our person that we designed is called Mark Hepburn, He's 23 years old and lives in liverpool, we first began with him suffering from agoraphobia but this proved to be a boring character. we added him a facebook, twitter and second life account. I think we're enjoying this a litte too much.

Museum Commission - Presentation

Here's our Prezi - http://prezi.com/nh0iw6jznmnl/architecture/

Presentation Preparation

Molly and  have put together our presentation, and it has been a long process. creating floor plans, models and a prezi have been time consuming but I feel confident that our presentation will go well. I just need to get my nerves under wraps.

Museum Commission - Final Idea

Heres my final plan for the museum commision, It's a flight simulator showing unusual viewpoints from liverpool. we have decided between us to call it Fresh Eyes, as the person will see the city through fresh eyes. The simulation will seat around 10 people at a time with the seats moving to simulate birds flight around liverpool, I just need to start making a presentation :/

Factual Short - Filming

Filming has begun, Our group  recced a hairdressers that were willing to talk to us about the relationship between a client and a hairdresser. They were very helpful and chatty (always good) and filming was finished within a couple of hours. All in all the filming went extremely well.

Factual Short - Plan Change

Due to an operation, my auntie was unable to film so a change of plan was needed. Corin suggested we make the film more hard hitting and add in an Alopecia sufferer and see their relationship with a hairdresser. were taking this on board as Megan Jopson from our group knows a few people with the condition willing to film. She's our savior.

Weavr

Our objective of this project was to create a person using weavr that would tweet on it's own. In weavr you insert the persons interests and location and then a computer linked to a twitter account will tweet acting as the person. I created a Girl from New quay named Lotte Rey. However the website didn't like my character immediately so it took many tries to get her online. once she was online she tweeted 3 times then was removed. I definitely was not winning. It was an interesting experience though.

Factual Short - Treatment

Here is the treatment I wrote for our factual short for Production Practice:

Le Cheveux
My initial idea came from watching the film “Le mari de la coiffeuse” (The hairdresser’s husband) and having a recent haircut. This led me to comprehend the intimacy of a haircut and become interested in the relationship between a hairdresser and their client. In no other situation, except very close family, would it be acceptable to so closely touch a person for a long period of time. Also the washing of hair which is seen today as such a private thing is common practice. I want to explore the aspect of trust within this relationship as a client puts their complete faith in a hairdresser, as job prospects and life in general can be based on a person’s image which is figuratively in the hands of the hairdresser. I think this film will be interesting to an audience as getting a haircut is an experience that almost all people have in their lives; it is highly relatable but will have a twist irregular to most regular documentaries.
The film would follow the working life of a Hairdresser, watching as they insert themselves into the lives of their clients. Exploring the professional and personal relationships that are involved within this line of work. Delving into how a hairdresser is somewhat like a priest symbolically baptising their clients as they wash their hair and confide their sins and problems throughout their time. The film would also play up the factor of vulnerability as when a person is wet with running mascara and foil in their hair they may look what is considered their ugliest. However they feel comfortable within this situation and will put themselves in this position time and time again, as they desire the end result.
An auntie of mine is a mobile hairdresser; she will be the main subject of the film giving the point of view of the professional. I have received permission from her to follow her for a few days during filming, as she uses a car in her business she is willing to allow me to travel with her whilst filming, this may also be useful when capturing her on the move. I have also contacted a few of her regular customers that are willing to be interviewed as part of the film. These clients will give a different angle and show the views of the customer.
I found the French style of “Le mari de la coiffeuse” inviting and beautiful, it helped to illustrate the intimacy between the couple. I wanted to incorporate an aspect of glowing look into the film as it would give the film a professional but “indie” look which I find striking. I plan to use a small amount of time-lapse within the film during an entire haircut, showing to the viewer the complete process and giving the visual relief of a before and after shot. I also plan to use some royalty free vintage videos sourced from “http://www.istockphoto.com” I wanted to add these videos as they would accentuate the French new-wave style of the film.

Personal Profile - Feedback

Our feedback was less than hopeful, whilst the shots were good, the audio was not up to a very good standard. Another complaint was that the film went off topic, speaking more about the pub that the person, I understand what they mean. We just need to read the brief a little closer next time.

Rekindling Love

In film language we've been watching some of the films of Shane Meadows and this caused be to remember my love for his films. I've started re-watching any I have and Amazon is getting raided for some more. Definitely one of my favorite British directors.

Personal Profile - Editing

The editing for this project has been a challenge, our audio was quite poor as our boom microphone was faulty and the camera mic picked up background noise a little too well. However we got some really good cutaway shots to use and the films coming along well.

Personal Profile - Recce

We chose our personal profile subject today, Sophie Keady-Williams' mum. She owns a pub in Liverpool city center and shes going to tell us how she started her job and what it entails. we've also looked over the location and think it's certainly suitable to film in. She's given us free reign of the pub as long as were considerate of customers, which of course we will be. Just need to get the cameras (and drinks) in.

Essay Writing Workshop

Today we had an essay writing workshop that was really, I mean REALLY useful in, Film language. I've never had a real lesson on it before and it's just what I needed before I start all of my essay projects. Sad times.

Another Wiki?

Seriously? I spoke too soon, Although this project was a little more easy going than the last, I had a hard working group and an interesting subject but please not again tutors, please.

Here's our Wiki page - http://contemporarymediaissues.wetpaint.com/page/Global+Warming+Across+Social+Media+Platforms

Personal Profile Assignment

Another deadline?! It's relentless but fun. This time we have to make a video about a specific person and their life. A person we know would be most convenient but trying to think of and interesting person to film is proving hard. I think a little more planning and research is in order.

It's Liverpool - Rough Cut

We got it in on time! and got some okay feedback but extra filming is essential. The tutors really liked the focus play shots, so something like this would be useful to remember for future projects.

Website creation

Today we began planning our portfolio websites in digital tools, I looked for inspiration in others websites and have begun some sketches, I'm quite daunted with the task at hand but hopefully my dreamweaver skills will develop.
Here is one of the websites I'm using for inspiration

Thought Provoking Headgear

Six thinking hats - we used this thinking technique in our lesson and it proved quite useful, I felt it took the blame away when having to criticize others ideas. Heres a webpage I found really useful when further researching the topic

Museum commission

Our latest project is to create a unique and innovative exhibit  for the new museum in Liverpool, and present our ideas to a panel. My user group is architects, we just need to being our planning.

It's Liverpool assignment

The latest assisgnment for Production practice is called It's Liverpool, I didnt have much to do with the filming of this project because of a death in the family but I'll get helping with the editing.

People on the Move - Final Film

We've Completed our first film! I'm so happy and proud of it.

Reflection Essay and Screenr

I've been a hermit theses last few days as the work was coming up to my eyes. A 2000 word essay and a screenr presentation, It was not an enjoyable experience especially just before Christmas. I was so self conscious before I watched everyone elses online but then I felt a little better about it. Roll on Christmas!

Class Test

We had a class test in Film language, it was quite difficult but something I'm familair with from A-Level, It was a scene analysis on the film North By Northwest I hope I've done okay, fingers crossed.

People on the Move - Rough Edit

Play

We had an assignment to create a game that could be around our university building, my group decided to use the lifts. The game would be played once in the lift. You would use a touchscreen to play simple games on each floor, if you win you get out at your desired floor, if you loose you go back to ground floor and take the stairs.
we thought it would be a fun way to pass the time,no good if your running late though!

Stop Frame Animation

Digital tools

Lego Serious Play

In this lesson we used lego creatively, we had to build a structure that reflected ourselves, however this soon became who can build the best structure. Didn't really so to plan, I enjoyed myself though and found the task fun and relaxing. I can see why business men like it!

Messed up Dates

I've been writing down my blog posts in a notebook lately so the dates will be a little messed up, but everything will still be there in order, sorry :)
